2009 Forum On Cross-Straits Higher Education, Xi¡¯an |
¡¡¡¡The ¡°2009 Forum On Cross-Straits Higher Education¡± was ceremoniously held in Xi¡¯an on August 10, 2009. The forum was sponsored by Shaanxi Department of Education and Taiwan Affairs Office of People¡¯s Government of Shaanxi Province. Also it was co-organized by the Shaanxi Association of Higher Education and Xi¡¯an Siyuan University. The forum was centered around student enrollment, employment and administration under the world-wide financial crisis.
¡¡¡¡The forum was presided by Mr. Li Qian, Deputy Chief of Shaanxi Department of Education, with Assistant Seceretary-General Yao Chao Ying¡¯s address standing for Vice-Governor Jing Jun Hai. President Zhou Yan Bo of Xi¡¯an Siyuan University and President Guo Yi Xiong of Tai Wan Normal University delivered speeches on behalf of separate academic community. Over 100 participants from 60 higher institutions across the Straits joined together exploring the development of higher education under the on-going financial crisis.
¡¡¡¡In his address, President Zhou Yan Bo said: ¡°The forum is quite significant in reinforcing institutional exchanges between the Straits, in promoting higher education with improvement of connotation. It will further the cooperations in education and in politics, economics, science and technology, culture and brotherhood between the Straits as well.¡±
¡¡¡¡Vice-Governor Jing Jun Hai attended the forum and met with the delegates from Taiwan educational institutions in the afternnon. He made a briefing on Shaanxi economic and educational development. He highly acknowledged the build-up and progress achieved in non-government funded education in Shaanxi and addressed a sepecial appreciation to Xi¡¯an Siyuan University for its achievements.
¡¡¡¡Two groups were made to explore the student enrollment, employment and administration under the on-going financial crisis which is faced with higher educational institutions across the Straits.
